Time for a quick check-in.
pick only one!
Hey, It’s Esther!
I’m writing because it’s the start of August, which means we’re two thirds of the way through the year, and this is the exact point where I stop and ask myself one uncomfortable question:
..If the rest of the year looked like the last two months, would I be happy with where I land in December?
Sometimes the answer is yes and I keep going.
Sometimes it’s a clear no, and that tells me something needs to change while there’s still runway to change it.
What would your answer be right now?
That question matters more than any habit streak, which is why I’ve never bought the whole “21 days to build a habit” idea.
The problem is rarely that you can’t stick to something for three weeks.
It’s that the thing you’re sticking to stopped being the right thing a while ago, and nobody paused long enough to notice.
Intentional living isn’t about doing more consistently, it’s about checking that what you’re being consistent about still deserves your energy.
So instead of a to-do list, here are a few prompts to sit with.
Pick the one that lands hardest and actually give it ten minutes this week, because the thinking is the work here, not the checking-off.
Look at where your time actually went in July, then ask whether it went toward the things you’d have named as priorities at the start of the month.
Name one commitment you’re carrying out of obligation rather than genuine return, and decide whether the next 60 days are when you finally let it go
Pick the single goal that would make the rest of this year feel like a win, and ask what’s realistically in the way of it
Notice what you’ve been running on empty to keep going, and choose one way to actually refill before the fourth-quarter push
If working through those makes it obvious that the real problem is you’ve had no dedicated place to think this way…
Especially is you’re building in the margins of a full life…
That’s the whole reason the Strategic by Design planner exists.
It’s built to hold this kind of reflection, planning and recalibration, so it becomes a standing rhythm instead of something you scramble to do once you’re already behind.
Okay friend, that’s it. And remember, just pick one and get it done.
And if you're up for it, drop a comment with the one you're picking and by when it’s be completed.
There's something about saying it out loud that makes you far more likely to follow through.
