Let’s dive in!
You ever notice how stepping into something new; a business, a new job,
…Or even just trying to figure out content creation without sounding like a copy of a copy of a copy, feels like the first day at a new school?
Awkward. Exposed. Like everyone else already knows the drill and you’re just trying not to trip over your own shoelaces.
You know the feeling. That “new kid in the cafeteria” energy.
Do I belong here? Will I sound like a rookie? Is there anything I know that hasn’t already been said by someone with a bigger mic and fancier graphics?
That fear is real, right?
But it’s also a trap.
Because most people forget that they not a blank slate…are you?
You’re not some wide-eyed novice rolling in without a clue.
You’ve got YEARS of doing, trying, learning, leading, selling, mentoring, managing, surviving and all of that counts.
What’s tripping you up isn’t lack of value.
It’s lack of translation.
You're Focused on What You Don't Know
Let’s get one thing straight: most people online are sleeping on their most valuable assets…
The offline skills they’ve already mastered.
When people pivot online, especially into coaching, consulting, or creator roles, their first instinct is to look outward.
What’s trending? What are others doing? What funnel hack should I learn this week?
And then, the spiral hits. The comparison trap: “I’ll never catch up. I don’t know enough. I’m behind.”
Spoiler: You’re not behind. You’re just not connecting the dots.
You are already so far ahead, by the fact that you are here.
You’ve built authority offline. You’ve solved hard problems.
You’ve learned how to lead teams, manage conflict, close deals, pitch ideas, teach, persuade, explain complex things to people who didn’t want to listen.
That stuff matters. That’s the gold. And guess what? You can leverage all of it online if you know how to bridge the gap.
Your offline experience isn’t irrelevant, it’s your unfair advantage.
Nothing You’ve Done is Wasted
I talk to a lot of people who extremely talented, but stuck.
And every time we unpack their past, I’m blown away. They’ve done incredible things...but they’re not using any of it in their online messages.
Once I help them link their offline experience to their online presence, something clicks.
They stop acting like a rookie and start communicating like the expert they already are.
Their content changes. Their confidence explodes. And people finally start listening.
No judgment here: I’ve Been There Too
I know what this feels like, because I was that person.
When I first came online, it was overwhelming. Everyone seemed to be crushing it.
My feed was flooded with screenshots, “six-figure months,” “$10K days,” back-to-back launches that looked effortless.
I thought there had to be some magic, some secret code I didn’t have.
So I did what most ambitious people do: I invested heavily in expensive coaching, chasing that silver bullet.
And in doing so, I forgot something critical.
I already had value. Tons of it.
Before I ever attempted to write a piece of content online, I had:
Sold multi-million dollar software for a major tech brand across the country
Sat in boardrooms with C-suites, built long-term relationships
Mastered the art of “selling without selling”, because that’s how real trust is built
Earned my project management certification and led teams to deliver results on time, on budget
And yes, run a household (which is arguably the toughest negotiation arena on earth)
But when I stepped into the online space? I downplayed all of that.
I thought I needed to sound like everyone else. That unless I mastered funnels, templates, and viral content, no one would take me seriously.
I ignored what made me powerful offline, and as a result, my online voice felt watered-down and unsure.
Yes, internet marketing has its own game. Yes, it’s a different kind of selling.
But you are still the same powerhouse.
The trick is not to start over, it’s to translate your authority, strip out the corporate jargon, and repackage your expertise so it hits home with the people you’re here to serve.
Because if you can close high-stakes deals, lead teams, or handle complex situations offline…
…You can absolutely sell your $97 masterclass online, I promise, and help a lot of people.
You just need to say it in a way that lands.
So, let me say it plain once again: You’re not starting from scratch. You’re starting from expertise.
Now, let’s learn how to show it.
